Most people hit a wall in GTA Online because they spend hours in freemode doing a bit of everything and getting nowhere. If you want that RP to actually move, you need a loop you can repeat without thinking. For me, that starts with heists, because they pay you for every stage, not just the finale, and they fit nicely alongside building your cash stack too, especially if you're already looking at GTA 5 Money options to keep your loadout and businesses moving.
Make heists your main engine
Heists are still the fastest "normal" way to climb ranks because the game keeps handing you RP in chunks. Setups, preps, finales, all of it counts. Cayo Perico is the obvious workhorse since you can run it solo and control the pace, and the Casino Heist is great if you've got one or two reliable players who won't go AFK mid-run. The trick is to run them like a routine. Don't overthink the perfect approach every time. Pick what you can execute cleanly, keep failures low, and you'll feel the difference after just a few sessions.
Chase weekly bonuses like it's your job
Every Thursday, Rockstar basically tells you what's worth your time. When a heist, setup, or even a specific mode is on 2x or 3x RP, that's your green light. Swap plans instantly. Those bonus weeks are where ranks melt away, especially if you play in longer blocks over the weekend. A normal grind week is fine, but an event week can push you up a bunch of levels without you even realising it. Check the Newswire, check the in-game banner, then commit.
Fill the gaps with quick, repeatable RP
Cooldowns and waiting around kill momentum. So while you're between heist runs, slot in short jobs that don't drag. VIP Work like Headhunter or Sightseer is quick if you've got a fast vehicle and you know the map. Agency Security Contracts are solid too, and they don't require a full crew. You're not doing these because they're glamorous. You're doing them so there's never dead air. Heist prep, quick contract, sell mission if it's ready, back to the board.
Keep the small boosts ticking over
Daily Objectives can feel like busywork, but the streak bonuses are real, and they stack up over a month. Same with the Casino wheel spin, the odd Business Battle, or a short race when you're bored of gunfire. It's all "extra" RP that sneaks in while you're doing your main grind. If you build your week around heists and bonuses, then sprinkle in these habits, you'll level faster and feel less burned out, and you'll have more flexibility when you're tempted by stuff like GTA 5 Money buy to skip the slow parts and stay focused on the fun.
