The quickest way to ruin a good car in Forza Horizon 6 is to treat the upgrade screen like a shopping trolley. Big turbo, race engine, wild exhaust, done. Sounds fun for about ten seconds, then the rear steps out and you're staring at a wall. Match the car to the surface

City circuits and countryside sprints don't ask for the same setup. Tight roads need a car that changes direction without throwing a tantrum. Softer suspension can help if there are kerbs or bumps, while too much stiffness makes the car skip and slide. Dirt is another story. If you're building for rally routes, AWD is hard to ignore. Some players hate swapping drivetrains, and fair enough, but loose surfaces reward traction. Being able to put power down early out of a muddy corner is worth more than keeping things pure.

Tuning is where the car becomes yours

Don't leave the tuning menu untouched and expect magic. Small changes matter. Drop tyre pressure a little if the car feels nervous. Adjust gearing if you're smashing the limiter halfway down a straight. Move brake balance if the rear keeps trying to overtake you. Test, tweak, then test again. It's boring until it suddenly clicks, and then the car feels like it's listening.
